About the Author – Efuet Tazi

Efuet Tazi is a passionate storyteller whose works draw deeply from African traditions, family legacies, and timeless human struggles. With a gift for blending history, folklore, and personal memory, he brings to life stories that honor resilience, identity, and the power of courage in the face of adversity.

His writing often includes intense scenes of witchcraft, sorcellerie, and the mystical interplay of black and white African magic — elements that reflect the lived realities, fears, and mysteries embedded in African culture.

His journey as a dreamer began early. At just five years old, his grandmother asked him what he wanted to become when he grew up. His innocent reply was both simple and profound: “When I grow up, I want to travel around the world and buy you and the family all kinds of things — especially a pipe for you.” That spark of imagination planted the seed for a lifetime of exploration and storytelling.

At the age of twenty-four, his dream began to unfold when he embarked on his first international journey. He traveled to Hong Kong and later to mainland China, where he spent many years studying, working, and immersing himself in Asian cultures. These formative experiences broadened his worldview, deepened his appreciation for diversity, and shaped his identity as both a global citizen and a storyteller with universal reach.

After marrying, Tazi moved with his family to the United States, where he continues to weave his life experiences into his writing. Now a devoted husband, father, and lifelong learner, he balances family responsibilities, academic pursuits, and creative projects with passion and resilience.

Through his books, Efuet Tazi seeks not only to entertain but also to preserve culture, encourage reflection, and inspire readers to embrace their roots while chasing their dreams. His life’s journey — from childhood promises in Cameroon to years of discovery in Asia and new beginnings in the United States — continues to remind him, and his readers, that stories have the power to bridge worlds and generations.

It is this very promise to his grandmother, and the lessons of resilience she embodied, that inspired his work My Grandmom is a Hero — a heartfelt tribute to her strength, the mysteries she endured, and the legacy she left behind.
